The Hellenic Golf Federation's 3rd International Diaspora Tournament was won by 17 year old ALEX KATHOLOS of Sydney, Australia

The 3rd International Diaspora Tournament, which was held at The Crete Golf Club in Hersonissos, Crete from 24th - 26th August 2007, was won by 17 year old Alex Katholos of Sydney, Australia with a total of 158. Alex was also last years' winner at Glyfada Golf Club and has now won this event three times in a row!! In second place was Alex's father Peter with a total of 161 (full leaderboard).

After two days of intence competition in windy conditions, the playerswere fetted at a Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony at The Crete Golf Club folowed by a Greek Night with local Cretan and National Dances.

The Tournament was held under the aegis of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Department of Greeks Abroad and the Hellenic Golf Federation. It is the first time that the International Diaspora Tournamentwas held in Crete and as Mr. M. Foundulakis (President of the Crete Golf Club) mentioned, Crete is ready to stage such wonderful events and invited all participants to come back in 2008 with more friends and golfers from abroad.In the absence of Mr. Petros Doukas, who was unable to be present due to the catastrophic fires that have stroke that weekend, Mr. M. Sideris and Mr. K. Valassakis addressed the players on behalf of Mr. Doukas. Both men staged that such golf tournaments are a wonderful way for Greeks from around the world to make contact with each other and that the Hellenic Golf Federation will always support such events.
